Free admission and Concessions
Free admission and concessions are available on the day of the visit on production of a valid card qualifying for the discount.
Admission is free to both permanent and temporary exhibitions for:
children under 6;
citizens over 70 of EEA member states;
persons with tickets for professionals issued by the secretary of state (only citizens of EEA member states);
members of professional organisations of public collections with national authority counting at least 400 members (Pulszky Society – Hungarian Museum Association, Association of Hungarian Librarians, Association of Hungarian Archivists), with membership card valid for the given year (only citizens of EEA member states);
teachers (actively) working in public education with teachers’ card valid for the given term (only citizens of EEA member states); - cards with unlimited validity are not accepted;
persons with valid papers based on international treaties (ICOM, ICOMOS);
journalists with photo ID;
visitors on public holidays (15th March, 20th August, 23rd October) regardless of citizenship
Persons with disabilities and their carers (1 for each disabled person)
Permanent and temporary exhibitions are to be visited at 50% discount for EEA citizens:
a) from the age of 6 until the age of 26,
b) over the age of 62,
c) accompanying at least two persons under 18, who are – according to Article 685 § point b) of the Civil Code – part of their close family (2 people at most), with the exception of the case included in point b) paragraph (2).
(2) Admission to permanent exhibitions of the museums on one weekend every month is free on the day specified by the museum (the third Sunday of every month) for the EEA citizen:
a) under 26,
b) accompanying an 18 year old person, who according to the Act of 1959 IV about the Civil code article 8:1. (1.) § point b), is a close relative (2 persons at most).
