Closed during the winter and can only be visited by prior appointment.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_3 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><strong>Archaeological exhibition in the middle of the Main Square\/March 15th Square, in the crypt of the former St. Michael's Church. The renovation of March 15th Square was preceded by a thorough archaeological excavation, during which the ruins of the church of the former German city, which had been rebuilt many times over the centuries, and valuable finds, such as carved tombstones, were discovered.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_4 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>The site of today's main square in V\u00e1c was already a settlement during the Hungarian conquest. On the site of today's Main Square, the inhabitants built a presumably modest church in the 11th or 12th century. A bek\u00f6lt\u00f6z\u0151k a r\u00e9gi egyh\u00e1z hely\u00e9n l\u00e9tes\u00edtett\u00e9k a Szent Mih\u00e1ly-templomot \u00e9s temet\u0151j\u00e9t, melyek 1319-ben szerepelnek els\u0151k\u00e9nt okleveles forr\u00e1sban. E korai, feltehet\u0151en k\u00e9s\u0151rom\u00e1n st\u00edlus\u00fa \u00e9p\u00fclet alapfalaib\u00f3l olyan kev\u00e9s ker\u00fclt el\u0151, hogy pontos alaprajz\u00e1t nem tudjuk megrajzolni.<\/p>\n<p>A XIV. sz\u00e1zad v\u00e9g\u00e9n vagy a XV. sz\u00e1zadban a g\u00f3tika idej\u00e9n teljesen \u00e1t\u00e9p\u00edtett\u00e9k, megnagyobb\u00edtott\u00e1k. A XVI. sz\u00e1zad k\u00f6zep\u00e9ig m\u00e9g t\u00f6bb kisebb \u00e1t\u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9s t\u00f6rt\u00e9nt, melyekre a napvil\u00e1gra ker\u00fclt t\u00f6red\u00e9kes faragott k\u00f6vek utalnak. A t\u00f6r\u00f6k\u00f6k 1544-ben foglalt\u00e1k el els\u0151 \u00edzben V\u00e1cot, \u00e9s csak 1685-ben siker\u00fclt v\u00e9gleg el\u0171zni \u0151ket. Egy 1570 t\u00e1j\u00e1r\u00f3l sz\u00e1rmaz\u00f3 t\u00f6r\u00f6k h\u00e1z\u00f6ssze\u00edr\u00e1sb\u00f3l tudjuk, hogy az akkori f\u0151t\u00e9ren a Szent Mih\u00e1ly-templom k\u00f6r\u00fcli temet\u0151 romladoz\u00f3 k\u0151fala mellett, annak k\u00fcls\u0151 oldal\u00e1n t\u00f6bb t\u00f6r\u00f6k bolt \u00e1llt, t\u0151l\u00fck n\u00e9h\u00e1ny l\u00e9p\u00e9snyire pedig a piac t\u00f6bbi boltja helyezkedett el. A templomot a mohamed\u00e1nok meghagyt\u00e1k a kereszt\u00e9nyek kez\u00e9n, akik pl. 1669 t\u00e1j\u00e1n m\u00e9g egy \u00faj toronnyal is b\u0151v\u00edthett\u00e9k azt.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_column_3 et_pb_column et_pb_column_1_2 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_6 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>Az oszm\u00e1n h\u00f3d\u00edt\u00f3k ki\u0171z\u00e9se ut\u00e1n a templomot a v\u00e1ci katolikusok elvett\u00e9k az azt r\u00e9g\u00f3ta haszn\u00e1l\u00f3 protest\u00e1nsokt\u00f3l \u00e9s a harcokban elpusztult sz\u00e9kesegyh\u00e1z helyett p\u00fcsp\u00f6ki sz\u00e9khelyk\u00e9nt haszn\u00e1lt\u00e1k. Az 1755 ut\u00e1ni \u00e9vekben elbontott\u00e1k a k\u00f6z\u00e9pkori k\u00e9s\u0151 g\u00f3tikus szent\u00e9lyt \u00e9s a g\u00f3tikus haj\u00f3 keleti r\u00e9sz\u00e9t, majd ezek hely\u00e9n vastag, robosztus alapokkal a k\u00f6z\u00e9pkorin\u00e1l j\u00f3val sz\u00e9lesebb \u00e9s hosszabb bazilika \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9s\u00e9t kezdt\u00e9k meg.<\/p>\n<p>During the excavation, these \u2013 mostly brick \u2013 Baroque foundation walls and parts of a crypt were discovered on the eastern side. Only minor alterations were made to the western part of the nave during the Baroque period. The planned basilica was not fully built, as the new bishop stopped construction around 1760, demolished both the new and old walls of the church, as well as the cemetery fence, and buried the remains. The exhibition presenting the findings can be viewed in the exhibition space set up in the crypt of the church in the middle of M\u00e1rcius 15 Square.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_row_2 et_pb_row et_block_row\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_4 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_module
