A megtal\u00e1lt kript\u00e1ban 262, t\u00f6bbnyire j\u00f3 \u00e1llapot\u00fa sz\u00ednes, d\u00edsz\u00edtett kopors\u00f3ban a 18. sz\u00e1zad k\u00f6z\u00e9ps\u0151 harmad\u00e1t\u00f3l kezd\u0151d\u0151en, illetve a 19. sz\u00e1zad elej\u00e9n elhunyt \u00e9s betemetett, a k\u00fcl\u00f6nleges kl\u00edm\u00e1nak k\u00f6sz\u00f6nhet\u0151en j\u00f3 \u00e1llapotban fennmaradt, spont\u00e1n mumifik\u00e1l\u00f3dott v\u00e1ci polg\u00e1rok testei nyugodtak; f\u00e9rfiak, n\u0151k, gyermekek, mesteremberek, szerzetesek, papok, katonatisztek, hivatalnokok...<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\u00a0The permanent exhibition, renovated in June 2016, is located in the medieval cellar of one of the residential buildings on the main square. Descending the steep stairs into the cool and deep cellar, visitors are greeted by a picture of the crypt from the time and a list of the citizens of V\u00e1c who were identified based on their coffin inscriptions.<\/p>\n

In the small room to the left of the passage, the sacral accessories (crucifixes, rosaries, grace medals) found in the coffins were presented. In the impressive large room of the cellar, painted, colorful coffins of adults and children were placed. The depictions of Christ, religious and death symbols visible on the coffins also refer to the religious worldview of the people of the time and their relationship to death.<\/p>\n

In the back of the room, the master tailor Gy\u00f6rgy Stefanovics, an unknown middle-aged bourgeois woman, and a 9-year-old girl, Magdolna Salamon, lie in a glass coffin, in reconstructed clothing based on the original. This allows visitors to gain insight into the burial and funeral customs of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The mummified or partially mummified remains of the citizens of V\u00e1c buried in the Dominican crypt of V\u00e1c have been placed in the Anthropological Collection of the Hungarian Museum of Natural History.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
